First Hello Public Art Trolley Tour a Huge Success

We could not have predicted what a success the first Hello Art public art tour would be. Thank you to everyone who participated! In addition to learning about some of Kansas City's noteworthy public art, guests also met several of the artists along the tour route.

Dylan Mortimer's piece, Prayer Booth, was our first stop. When we arrived, Dylan was there waiting for us and gracious enough to hop on the trolley and discuss his work.

Artist Lori Buntin also hopped on the trolley when we passed by Hoop Dog Studios. She invited everyone back to Hoop Dog, which will be featured on the First Friday Hello Art Trolley Tour in November.

Muralist Alexander Austin joined us at 31st and Troost, where he explained the historical significance of the neighborhood depicted in his mural. He then led part of the tour that showcased his work and the 18th & Vine District.

Before a stop at Maker's Mark Bourbon House for complimentary Manhattans and appetizers, Robin Trafton also boarded the trolley to explain Art in the Loop and the newly unveiled Public Art Navigator project.

The tour concluded with a studio and gallery tour at Corbin Bronze, as well as a reception in the sculpture garden with music by Madison DeCamp. Many thanks to Tom Corbin for being such an inspirational and gracious host!

A second Hello Art Public Art Tour will be offered this spring, and plans are under way to offer private tours as well.

Many thanks to everyone involved, especially Cory Imig for coordinating such a fantastic tour!
